Creating a home office in your kitchen

Working from home is the new normal now. And it’s something that we’re all going to have to get used too. Even when things return back to pre-covid normality, many of you may decide to still work from home as it’s more efficient and you’re saving time and money on your commute. So you might be looking to create a more permanent base for working from. If you don’t have the spare room available to make into a fully fledged home office, then your kitchen could be the next best thing.

A home office in your fitted kitchen North West

When setting up a miniature home office in your kitchen, you need to find somewhere that could be classed as dead space that you can use. Maybe a free wall that a desk can be pushed against. Or, if you don’t have the space for a full desk, why not get a wall mount shelf space? These can then be propped open or closed when needed. You might already have a desk area in the shape of a kitchen island or dining table.

Once you’ve got your space set up, you need to make sure that you’ve got the right lighting set up as well. Maybe you could use some of the fitted kitchen task lighting you’ve currently got? You just need to make sure you’ve got a proper light source at your work area.

Then you need to make sure you are getting rid of any distractions that might be in your way. Of course, this is easier said than done. But if you’ve found that your kitchen is the hub of your home even during your working hours, then it might be time to relocate.
